4/6/13 G horses

4/6/13 There are a ton of horses in my file starting with the letter G and I haven’t quite figured out how to present them, so I’m just going to get started and see what happens.

Gallant Guy O’Goshen
Beau Gallant X Gilded Gal O’Goshen

He won the Stallion Stake at the Kentucky State Fair for 6 years in a row, although he never won the big dance.

Gilded Gal O’Goshen
American Ace X Kalabara O’Goshen (BHF) by One Grand Barrymore

Both  of these horses were bred by William Belknap who bred saddlebreds for decades starting a century ago.  His farm was located in Goshen, Kentucky which must have been the inspiration for the name.  Kalabara O'Goshen was also the dam of Ace O'Goshen, sire of Faustiana's Top Brass pictured in my 3/30/13 post.

Gay Defender
King’s Genius X Anacacho Princess (BHF) by Edna May’s King

He was a half-brother to noted stallions Beau Gallant and Beau Fortune.   Sired by King’s Genius, he should have been a good stallion too.  However, he only sired a handful of colts.

Gypsy Queen

Foaled in 1897 and sired by Chester Dare, she is an oldie, but isn’t she beautiful?
