10/13/2014 2014 ASHAM horse show

10/13/14  Finally got to see a little bit of horse show this week.  Drove to Lansing Michigan to the Michigan State University Pavilion to watch part of the Saturday night session of the show.  The Pavilion is a very nice facility and hosts a variety of events including horse, livestock and rabbit shows.  We've done all three and my daughter had a grand champion lamb there one year.  But this time was all about the horses and it was a great week for the show, mostly sunny and just a bite of autumn in the air.  Horses from Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, Kentucky, Canada and of course, Michigan, were on hand.    Friday night was the retirement of Justasample, Michigan's 25 year young ambassador for Saddlebred versatility.  Over the years he has done 5-gaited pleasure, fine harness, western pleasure, country pleasure, parade and he was a habitual trophy winner in the best dressed pet class.

Saturday night's first class was the Parade Horse Championship.  Michigan's own Paddyngton's Mark of Distinction took first place.  Marcus has his own Breyer horse model fashioned after his beautiful chestnut pinto markings. The Parade Division is such a wonderful class to watch.  There is nothing more beautiful to watch!

The Amateur 3 Gaited Park class was won by Walterway's Tailor Made, shown by his owner, Dr. Richard Gallagher from Illinois.
