11/3/13 More on the 1990 Breeder's Guide

11/3/13 Last time we visited the Breeder's Guide was in April with posts about Yorktown stallions and Supreme Sultan's stallion sons.  The Breeder's Guide was a publication which highlighted American Saddlebred stallions.  Each page was an advertisement for a stallion showing his photo, pedigree, information about his fee, who owned him, where he stood and a short statement about him.  The first year for the ASB Breeder's Guide was 1990 and it continued in published format until 2004.  By then, ASHA put out their own Reference Guide which included much of the same info, so the Breeder's Guide ceased. 

In 1990, there were 73 stallions advertising and since there were 14 by Supreme Sultan and 8 by Yorktown that were covered in a prior blog, that leaves roughly 50 more.  Here are a few for this week.  Supreme Sultan not only had sons in the Guide, he had grandsons and great grandsons.

but not through his most famous son Supreme Sultan.

 

CH Night Prowler

CH Night Prowler was a World's Grand Champion in Fine Harness and

also sired some nice horses including breeding stallions CF First Night Out and

War Whoop Two, and the show mare Reedann's Nighty Nite.

He sired the 5 gaited horse CH Sinatra.

Longview's Paladin

Longview's Paladin was a half brother to CH Imperator.
